Phoenix
has the distinction of being home to professional teams in
all major sports. At the top of the list is the 2001 World
Series champion Arizona Diamondbacks.
They inhabit Bank
One Ballpark (nicknamed BOB), a destination on its own.
Catch a game during the season or take a tour of BOB, one
of baseball’s most unique venues complete with great restaurants,
swimming pool and retractable roof.
Remember,
baseball comes early to Phoenix as Major
League Baseball teams such as the San Francisco Giants,
Seattle Mariners, Oakland A’s, and 2002 champion Anaheim Angels
begin spring training.
Root for your favorite team under warm, sunny desert skies
and get a jump on the season.
Basketball
fans can watch the always-competitive Phoenix
Suns hold court at America
West Arena in downtown Phoenix (see map). Other sports
are well represented including the Phoenix
Coyotes hockey team and the Cardinals
for NFL football. For exciting college
football and men’s
and women’s
basketball look no further than nearby Arizona State University.
Nascar enthusiasts will find a full schedule at Phoenix
International Raceway from February to May and during
October and November.
Tip:
Nearby Copper Square
offers restaurants and nightlife fun before or after games
at Bank One Ballpark and America
West Arena.
